The International Monetary Fund will launch a $100 billion green fund as part of global efforts to stimulate economic growth, managing director Dominique Strauss-Kahn said Saturday.
"There is a consensus around the size of the fund", Strauss-Kahn said during a panel discussion at the World Economic Forum in Davos, adding that the fund should help finance low-carbon projects.
In December, George Soros proposed that developed countries should lend money they received via the IMF's Special Drawing Rights, or SDRs, to a green fund of up to $150 billion that should finance projects in the developing world.
