The world’s leading economies should increase ambition rather than give up on the so-called “Doha round” of trade talks, according to Robert Zoellick, president of the World Bank. In a speech to be delivered on Monday in Geneva, Mr Zoellick said that the world should “double down” on the limited trade liberalisation currently being discussed in the talks. He criticised the US – including the administration of President George W. Bush – for defensiveness.
