Free Trade: Boosting Africa's Recovery

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) was officially launched on January 1, 2021. Why does this matter? What does it mean for African economies and private-sector actors? In a period when many nations are closing borders and looking inward, Africa is opening up. We see achievement of this milestone as a step in the right direction for the continent as nations seek a path toward economic recovery in a post-COVID world. We also see the AfCFTA as a catalyst for industrialization, innovation, collaboration, and wealth creation for both large and small nations.
