U.K. Parliament Set to Vote on Brexit Deal, After Second Attempt Fails

LONDON—Prime Minister Boris Johnson was set to put his Brexit deal to a vote in Parliament on Tuesday, in the first test of whether he has won over enough lawmakers to his plan to pull the U.K. out of the European Union.

Mr. Johnson’s government failed to secure a vote on Monday after the speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow, rejected it on the grounds that it was an effort to repeat a failed vote on Saturday to win backing for the deal. The decision sets up a straight yes-or-no vote on Tuesday on whether lawmakers support the deal in principle.
