Hari Hariharan is the Chairman and CEO of NWI Management LP (NWI), a global macro hedge fund group specializing in fixed income, currencies and rates with an emphasis on emerging markets.

In 1993, Mr. Hariharan joined Banco Santander to set up a specialized hedge fund group called Santander New World Investments. In April 1999, pursuant to changes in Banco Santander's overall strategic direction after its merger with BSCH in Spain, with the blessings and support of the Santander Group, Hari spun off the entire team into a new vehicle called NWI Management LP.

Until May 1993, Mr. Hariharan was a senior executive at Citibank N.A. where his last role was as a Senior Managing Director and Division Executive of the International Corporate Finance Division which specialized in emerging economies. His career in Citibank spanned 17 years during which time he built several different and highly successful businesses for the bank globally.

In 1992, he took over responsibility for all of Citibank’s activities in the US Capital Markets covering loan syndication, securitization and fixed income securities trading and sales. In 1990, he took charge of all of Citibank’s emerging markets cross border financing and capital markets. In two years, with Mr. Hariharan at the helm, this business became one of Citibank’s most profitable and premier franchises.

In 1989, he started a Pan European Corporate Finance and product development group as a Division Executive in Europe. In 1986, he was appointed Chief Executive and Country Corporate Officer for Malaysia, responsible for all of Citibank’s franchises in that country.
In 1982, Mr. Hariharan set up and developed the international investment banking division for Citicorp in Sydney, Australia before taking over as the head of corporate banking for the New South Wales region. From 1976 to 1982, he was at Citibank in India, where among other roles he was head of investment banking and treasury activities after a stint in Operations.

His formal education took place at the Harvard Business School (Program for Management Development), the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad (MBA-Finance) and at the University of Madras (Bachelor of Commerce - Accounting).

Mr. Hariharan is a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York Investor Advisory Committee on Financial Markets (IACFM) as well as a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
