The Committee invites all members to share their perspective via the BWC Blog.

The Bretton Woods Committee Blog aims to help global leaders envision how to evolve and strengthen the multilateral financial system and encourage policymakers to recommit to the value of international economic cooperation. Calls for submissions vary dependent upon timely global events, but submissions are encouraged on any relevant topic on an ongoing basis.

Topic: The Imperative of Adaptation for the IFIs

The emergence of complex post-pandemic economic conditions raise questions of whether the IFIs can work together effectively to adequately address the challenges ahead. The pandemic has changed the world as we know it, and it has fundamentally altered the global economic architecture. Nations confront shared problems –recovery from the COVID-19 crisis, climate risks, accelerated and unregulated use of crypto assets, sovereign debt distress, and the threat of future pandemics – that can only be addressed through coordination and cooperation. Adaptation is imperative. BWC wants to hear its members’ take on what institutional changes are needed for the IFIs work together to adapt to new realities and rise to the challenge of creating a resilient, equitable, and sustainable post-pandemic economy?
